How Applewood got started and got its name…..

My Father was a dreamer and loved to spend time with his family. In 1976 William Hohnstein was a drywall hanger. We lived in Milwaukee in a nice home, my parents, brother Jon and 2 sisters, Tara and Tricia. My dad wanted something better For our family's future. So he decided to sell our house, bought a pull behind camper. He hooked it to his 2 door Ford pick up truck and we headed out west, with 3 people in the cab and 3 in the back under the cap. We spent the better part 9 weeks traveling. We stopped in Rapid city South Dakota so my dad could make some money hanging drywall. Then we traveled through Wyoming into Montana where my Dad found a log home company. He found a place where he could purchase logs and decided he would build log homes when we got back. The company was called Applewood Homestead that turned into Applewood Drywall company, which is now a Large successful, and still a family owned company.
